Graduate Student Services

The Learning Center offers a variety of services that graduate students and prospective graduate students can take advantage of, including services for Tutoring, enhancing Academic Skills, and general help with getting in to Graduate School and taking Entrance Exams.

Tutoring

Volunteer Tutoring

We have several volunteer tutors who are qualified to help students with graduate level work. Click on the subject links to find specific courses tutored and to email a tutor. When emailing a tutor be sure to include your contact information and courses for which you need assistance.

Online Tutoring

The Learning Center provides students with FREE, live, interactive tutoring through a service called SmarThinking. This service connects students with qualified e-structors (online tutors) anytime, from any internet connection. Tutors are available in a variety of subjects. To gain access to SmarThinking please call or stop by the Learning Center.

Academic Skills

Study Skills Lab

Our Study Skills lab is a 5-week program that focuses on topics like time management, note taking, test taking and others.  This program is $20. Stop by the Learning Center to sign up.

Study Methods for Graduate Students

A one-time, 90 minute interactive workshop that focuses on providing graduate students the skills necessary to be more efficient students, requiring less time to achieve success.  Topics will range from time management and planning to reading rechniques for faster and more effective textbook reading.

Time Management For Graduate Students

This hands-on, one hour workshop will address issues relating to productivity such as procrastination, motivation and perfectionism. We will also cover topics like goal setting, time management and accountability. 

Speed Reading

Our Speed Reading course is a 5-week program designed to help you increase your reading speed while mainting or even improving your comprehension.  This program is $30. Stop by the Learning Center to sign up.

Thesis or Disertation Problems?

The Tolouse Graduate School is offering periodic Eagle Thesis Bootcamps and Eagle Dissertation Bootcamps for Masters and PhD candidates. They are designed to be an intense, distraction free environment to work on your projects.

Graduate School: The Guide To Getting In

This is a program offered twice a month at the Learning Center.  It is designed for current UNT students who are thinking about graduate school.  The program covers topics like entrance exams, how to secure letters of recommendation, personal statements and others.  The schedule can be found by clicking on the above link. This program is free and open to any UNT student.

Academic Resource Library

Need to take the GRE, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT or any other graduate school entrance exam? We have all the study materials you need to prepare for these tests and we can even provide a place for you to study. Any UNT student is welcome to come to the Learning Center and take advantage of this great resource.
