Tutoring Services

Need help in your classes? There's a Tutor for That.

The Learning Center is proud to offer a variety of tutoring services designed to help you succeed at UNT! Our tutors answer specific questions, check that you are approaching a concept correctly, work with and offer alternative problems, and help clarify concepts.

Looking for help in one of your classes? Our peer tutors are here to help! Schedule an in-person or online appointment with a Lead Tutor who will help you navigate course content. Online sessions are facilitated using Zoom. Please note, The Learning Center's Tutoring Services will not work on homework or assignment problems for you, check assignment answers, assist with take-home quizzes or essays, or repeat class lectures.

Drop-In Tutoring offers students the ability to work with Lead Tutors without an appointment. Each of our drop-in sessions offers a variety of different courses for students to receive tutoring in. Students can pop in for a quick question or join us for the whole two hours. We will offer drop-in sessions in Willis library and at Discovery Park.

Drop-In tutoring is available during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Have a question and don't need a whole session? Submit your question(s) via Ask-A-Tutor, UNT's asynchronous tutoring service. Our team will respond within 48 hours (2 business days). Please note, The Learning Center's Tutoring Services will not work on homework or assignment problems for you, check assignment answers, assist with take-home quizzes or essays, or repeat class lectures.

Check out helpful videos from our Lead Tutors on common, challenging course concepts in a variety of subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, economics, music theory, and more! Each video also features a downloadable transcript. Click here to check out our TutorTube library!

Presentation Request Form

:
This doesn't have to be 100% accurate, but it will help us know what supplies to bring along.
Please let us know what kinds of things to focus on. What we would present to a group of freshman is different than what we would share with seniors or graduate students. Engineering students might want different information than students studying music or political science. It helps us plan your presentation better.

Supplemental Instruction

What is Supplemental Instruction?
The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program is a peer-led academic support program targeted towards historically challenging undergraduate courses. SI leaders are current UNT students who have previously taken these courses and successfully earned an “A” letter grade. These students re-take the course with current students and lead group-based study sessions throughout the duration of the week. Attending SI sessions has shown to provide a significant impact on students’ academic performance.

How to Learn and What to Learn
Weekly sessions are facilitated by trained peer leaders who have successfully completed the course in a previous semester. SI leaders attend lectures, take notes and read all assigned material just like the enrolled students.

Go at Least Once a Week!
Attendance at SI sessions is free and voluntary. Students may attend as many times as they choose. Announcements about supplemental instruction are made in SI-supported courses during the first week of classes. Sessions begin the second week of classes and continue throughout the semester.

Meet our SI Senior Leader Student Staff
Students are chosen to assist our fulltime staff with managing our SI program. These student leaders have demonstrated leadership as a Supplemental Instructor resulting in a promotion to a senior position. Get to know our SI Senior Leaders from various backgrounds, working with a range of subjects.
